On 22 January 2016, the Ministry of Public Health confirmed the second case of Middle East Respiratory syndrome (MERs) patient in Thailand.

            The Royal Thai Embassies and Consulates have been well-informed and ready to ensure the international community that the situation is currently under control. The Royal Thai Government has implemented proper and timely measures, including contact tracing and providing the affected patient with proper medical care. Those who are at risk from contact with the patient are being monitored closely in accordance with protocols in accordance with international standard. General Prayuth Chan-o-cha, the Prime Minister of Thailand, has expressed his commitment in addressing the issue by instructing the Ministry of Public Health to give priority to the matter. Members of the public are advised to remain calm and follow the news and instruction from credible sources, as well as to practice good hygiene as part of their daily routine.

            Member of the Public are advised to follow preventive procedures according to the recommendation of the Ministry of Public Health. Thai Travelers with serious health-issues should avoid travelling to the countries with risk of MERs exposure. Travelers from the MERs-affected countries are also advised to report any illness including fever, cough, and cold immediately upon arrival and within 14 days.
